Singing lessons and vocal coaching sessions in Surrey, London, Cambridge, and online.

Different types of teaching

Jennifer, 14, Trinity Grade 8

Children

I love teaching singing to children, and currently teach privately from my home music room, and at Tiffin School, Kingston and St John’s, Leatherhead. In the past I have taught at other great schools such as Eltham College and Dulwich College. I have great experience teaching ABRSM, Trinity, LCM Music Theatre, LAMDA, and RockSchool boards. I also teach on Rodolfus Choral Courses, for the National Youth Choir, and as a vocal tutor for Gabrieli Roar.

Dan, 45, professional baritone

Professionals

I teach the Choir at Trinity College, Cambridge, the Choir at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and the Choir of Jesus College. Many students are embarking on singing careers, or making semi-professional singing part of their portfolio careers. I also maintain a number of professional classical singers on my roster, whose interests include high-end consort work, cathedral singing, operatic coaching, and audition preparation.

Helen, 49, music theatre and jazz

Amateurs

I believe everyone can sing. At home in my music studio, I teach keen amateur singers who are happy to pursue their hobby more fully, or those who just want to sing for fun. I teach a range of styles and genres, including Pop, Rock, Jazz and Music Theatre. I have a wealth of experience nursing people back into singing having had a long break, for whatever reason.

The essence of my teaching philosophy

  • Everyone can sing with encouragement and guidance.

  • Correct breathing and postural alignment are crucial to developing and maintaining a healthy singing voice.

  • Enthusiasm, knowledge and nurture can help any singer fulfil their potential, whatever their age or perceived level.
